I am originally from Ashland, NE. In high school I was into sports, music, speech and drama, and about anything else I could fit into my schedule. In college my major instrument was saxophone, but I love playing any and all musical instruments. Prior to  Wahoo, I taught for two years at Bancroft-Rosalie Community School. I have performed with the Omaha Symphony and I sub in a polka band called "Less Talk More Polka." Since 2013 I have been a staff member of the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music- an organization that takes nominated Nebraska High School music students on a performance tour of several European countries. My wife Melissa and my twin girls Abigail and Emily love being a part of the Wahoo community. I will be going into my 13th year at Wahoo and my 15th year of teaching.

Leighton Ware is a native of Lincoln, NE. She graduated from Lincoln Southwest High School in 2017. Ms. Ware attended Iowa State University for a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Music Education and graduated in 2021. This is her third year at Wahoo Middle/High School, and she is so excited to be apart of the community and to work with these incredible students and staff!

My name is Abby Rood, I'm very excited to be joining the team here at Wahoo! I grew up in Seward, Nebraska graduating from Seward High School in 2018. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I was a 4 year member of the Cornhusker Marching Band! This will be my third year teaching and my second year at Wahoo. I spent my first year as the 5-12 Band Director for Raymond-Central Public Schools. I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember, and I am very excited to join Mr. Smith and Ms. Ware this year!
