I am originally from Ashland, NE. In high school I was into sports, music, speech and drama, and about anything else I could fit into my schedule. In college my major instrument was saxophone, but I love playing any and all musical instruments. Prior to Wahoo, I taught for two years at Bancroft-Rosalie Community School. I have performed with the Omaha Symphony and I sub in a polka band called "Less Talk More Polka." Since 2013 I have been a staff member of the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music- an organization that takes nominated Nebraska High School music students on a performance tour of several European countries. My wife Melissa and my twin girls Abigail and Emily love being a part of the Wahoo community. I will be going into my 14th year at Wahoo and my 16th year of teaching.

My name is Annie von Kampen, and I am very excited to join the Wahoo Music team for my first year of teaching! I was born and raised in Omaha, NE prior to moving to North Platte, NE when I was in 8th grade. I received my Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2025. While at UNL, I played piccolo in the Cornhusker Marching Band for 3 years before serving as a Drum Major in my 4th and final season. I also sang in UNL Jazz Singers, UNL Chamber Singers, and performed in two musicals through UNL Opera and The Nebraska Repertory Theatre: “She Loves Me” (ensemble) and “Big Fish” (Josephine Bloom). I completed my student teaching experience in High School Choir at Elkhorn North High School under the direction of Casey Allen. Outside of teaching, I am one of the co-founders and vocalists of LNK Vocal Jazz, an avid crocheter, and love to read!

My name is Abby Rood, I'm very excited to be joining the team here at Wahoo! I grew up in Seward, Nebraska graduating from Seward High School in 2018. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I was a 4 year member of the Cornhusker Marching Band! This will be my third year teaching and my second year at Wahoo. I spent my first year as the 5-12 Band Director for Raymond-Central Public Schools. I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember, and I am very excited to join Mr. Smith and Ms. Ware this year!
